Plan Spring Plantings

Pine Grove Beautification Committee met April 22 to plan for spring. Flag banners will be put up in time for Memorial Day. Planters in downtown Russell will be filled with wave petunias. Begonias will be used at the cemetery plantings, welcome to Pine Grove sign, Akeley turn-off and Larimer Park planter. The Akeley turn-off suffered damage due to a hit and run accident which destroyed six shrubs. New landscape blocks will be installed the Pine Grove Cemetery sign and at the welcome to Pine Grove sign to help contain soil and enhance the look of the areas.
Workbees are set for Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon with additional workbees when needed.
Donations were received from John and Marge Bortz, June Stangler, Linda Young and two anonymous donors.
Volunteers are needed to help with weeding and watering. Call any members or call 757-8388. Tax-deductible donations can be sent to PGBC, P.O. Box 404, Russell, PA 16345.
