Payment is due for the upcoming dinner show at Riverside on May 23. There are a few seats left. Bus will leave at 4 p.m.

The center will be closed in honor of Memorial Day on Monday, May 26.

Theme baskets have been donated to be raffled. Check out the Italian dinner basket, a sugar free basket, a travel basket, and a junk food basket. Chances can be purchased at the center. The winning ticket will be drawn at noon Tuesday, May 27.

A monthly trip to Salamanca Casino and Bingo Hall is planned for Wednesday, May 28, leaving from the rear of Bike World at 9 a.m. Call for reservations. No membership is necessary.

A trip to Horse Racing at Erie Presque Isle is planned for Friday, May 30, from the Warren Community Center, departing the center at 3 p.m. Horse racing will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Call 723-4180 to sign up. The center is currently taking a waiting list.

An AARP Safe Driving course will be offered Monday and Tuesday, June 22-23, from 6 to 10 p.m. Al Harrison, certified instructor will conduct the course. Please call 723-4180 to sign up.

The Community Center and Prime Time Health will sponsor a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Warren Mall. Please donate blood to help to save lives.

Plan now to go to Bliss, N.Y., on Thursday, June 19, to tour the Wind Turbines Power Environment. Many counties are producing their own electric through large windmills. If you went with the center to Letchworth Park last year, we passed several clusters of them. Call for reservations.

Trips for 2008 include a Roaring 20s Speakeasy at Riverside Dinner Theater on May 23; a trip to Erie Presque Isle Horse Racing and Slots on May 30; a trip to see wind turbines on June 19; a trip to see the Pittsburgh Pirates play the St. Louis Cardinals on July 13; a Tribute to Frank Sinatra at Riverside Dinner Theater on July 18; a trip to see Vince Gil at Chautauqua on Aug. 22; and “Laughter in Bloom,” a tribute to Jack Benny at Riverside Dinner Theater on Aug. 26.

A volunteer appreciation dinner for everyone who has volunteered for the center will be held Tuesday, May 20, at Warren Senior Center. Punch will be served at 4 p.m. with a four-course chicken dinner to follow. Entertainment will be by the Handicap Singers. There is no charge for this meal as it is in appreciation of your service. Call the center if you plan to attend. All volunteers are welcome.

The rubber stamping class will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, taught by Becky Eldridge. Each person will go home with a finished card or project whether they are a beginner on an advanced stamper. Becky is a great teacher; learning from her is very easy. Then attend the stamping class each Thursday beginning at 9:30 a.m. and learn even more. The Thursday class is a group of stampers who share ideas and stamps and have a lot of fun. All senior stampers welcome.

Kathy Sears will be at the center at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, to discuss Strong Women, Strong Bones. This exercise class helps to build muscles and stamina, especially as we age. The benefits are huge. All women are welcome to come in and hear Sears speak, where to find the classes and how to enter them.

Canasta is being played each Wednesday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. at the center. This game is one played years ago and is making a comeback in popularity. Everyone is welcome to come in and play.

A group will leave at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, to go to Hudson, Ohio, and surrounding areas to visit the corporate JoAnne Fabrics, Hollo Paper Store and Pat Catan’s Craft Store. A couple of spaces remain on the van. The group will not return home until about 9 p.m. Plan for two meals on the road on own. The group will stop at Cracker Barrel on the way home for dinner.

The Make It - Bake It demonstration will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22. Jerry Tassone will prepare a favorite recipe for pineapple casserole. There will be a finished product to taste and the recipe will be handed out.

A jewelry knitting class will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with a sample of what is being made. It is done with thin gold thread, small beads and small double-pointed knitting needles. Come in and see it and how to make it.

The basket class will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the upstairs class room. Several people are working on items and making baskets or repairing furniture they had. If you need a basket repaired, bring it along and find out what can be done.

There is a group playing poker each Friday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. in the dining or living room. This group has a wonderful time and invite more people to come in and play; we can set up more tables.

There will be a trip to the Cranberry Mall on May 28, leaving the center at 8:30 a.m. and returning by 5 p.m. The mall has lots of big stores plus many smaller ones. Sign-ups being taken.

A couple of spaces are still available on the trip to Wildwood/Atlantic City June 2-6. The group will stay in a hotel directly on the beach with plenty of beach to walk and enjoy. There will be a one-day trip to Atlantic City, Cape May and a cruise along the coast of Wildwood to see the dolphins. An itinerary is available at the center; it isn’t too late to sign up.

The center has tickets to see two Chautauqua Institution shows, Vince Gill on Friday, Aug. 22, and Bill Cosby on Saturday, Aug. 23. Call the center for reservations. Payment should be made by mail or stopping into the center.

The center will begin a Friday night pinochle group on May 23 beginning at 6 p.m. Those interested should call and have their name added to the list of people interested in playing.

Reservations are being taken for a trip to Eureka Springs and Branson, Oct. 13-20. There will be plenty of shows and activities included; brochure now available.
