CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Police are asking for help from the public in finding a suspect in a shooting on a university campus outside of Philadelphia.

Chester police say a 19-year-old man was sitting inside a vehicle outside a gym at Widener University after playing basketball.

They say a male approached and shot him in the head and left shoulder shortly before 9 p.m. Monday. Officers found the victim lying on the ground outside the vehicle.

The student, whose name hasn't been released, was taken to a hospital, where he was reported in critical but stable condition after surgery.

The suspect fled toward the Sun Hill section of Chester.

The university has lifted a lockdown and says classes will be held as scheduled Tuesday.
