W. Pa. fire destroys fuel storage business

December 19, 2013
Associated Press

HOMER CITY, Pa. (AP) — A fuel storage business in western Pennsylvania has been destroyed by fire and explosions, and some neighbors were evacuated and nearby roads closed.

Authorities say the fire at Accent Fuels in Homer City began about 3:30 a.m., and at least a dozen area fire companies responded. About a dozen people were evacuated from nearby homes, but were allowed to return home by about 8:30 a.m. That's about 50 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

PennDOT says a section of Old Route 119/Main Street was also closed.

The fire is under investigation, and the company says it will be back in business Friday at other locations.
