HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania lawmakers are starting debate ahead of what is likely to be the final vote on a major transportation funding bill.

The state House took up the measure Thursday afternoon, just three days after it narrowly defeated the proposal.

The bill would raise at least $2.3 billion a year to fix and build roads and bridges and support mass transit agencies.

It would phase in higher gasoline taxes and a range of motorist fees collected by the state Transportation Department.
