Central Pa. jail employee charged with contraband

November 11, 2013
Associated Press

HOLLIDAYBURG, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania county jail employee has been jailed — in another facility — after investigators say he brought prescription drugs into the county jail illegally.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 27-year-old Fred Ziglar, of Hollidaysburg, who was jailed after his arraignment late Sunday on felony possession of contraband, felony possession with intent to deliver drugs, and possession of drugs and paraphernalia.

Blair County Prison officials say they confiscated a bag containing painkillers when Ziglar arrived for his shift Sunday afternoon. Police didn't immediately say what they believed Ziglar allegedly planned to do with the drugs.

A county spokesman refused to say what Ziglar did at the lockup.

Online court records show Ziglar remained incarcerated Monday pending a preliminary hearing Nov. 19. A prison official says Ziglar is being held in another county, however.
