EASTON, Pa. (AP) — An eastern Pennsylvania woman who allegedly gave birth in a sports bar bathroom then wrapped the newborn boy in plastic before hiding him in a toilet tank must stand trial on a charge of criminal homicide.
Twenty-six-year-old Amanda Hein, of Allentown, was ordered to trial after a preliminary hearing Monday.
A cleaning crew found the baby's body in a toilet tank on Aug. 19 at Starters Pub in Bethlehem, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia. The Northampton County coroner concluded the baby was born alive.
Police say they traced blood found in one of the bar's booths to Hein, who told police she was "scared" but wouldn't say why she allegedly killed the baby.
Police say Hein separated the umbilical cord from the child before wrapping him in a bag she found in the trash.
