ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in northwestern Pennsylvania say no charges will be filed against a man who shot two men in a reported home invasion robbery, killing one of them.
Erie police say the man fired after two masked men kicked in the front door of an Erie apartment on Oct. 14.
The Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/1acx5MM ) says Chief Randy Bowers told reporters Wednesday that investigators had determined that it was an attempted robbery.
District Attorney Jack Daneri said the resident "had reason to believe that his life or the lives of others" were endangered, so use of deadly force was allowed.
Eighteen-year-old Devonte Duck of Erie was killed and 26-year-old Chahon Gilmore of Erie was injured.
Gilmore has been charged with multiple counts of robbery, conspiracy, burglary, terroristic threats and reckless endangering.
