EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania say fire has claimed the lives of three people, including a child, and injured several others.
Emergency officials in Northampton County say the blaze in Easton was reported just after 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Officials said an adult and a child were pronounced dead at the scene. A female adult was flown to the burn unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where the Lehigh County coroner's office said she was later pronounced dead. Several other people went to other hospitals for treatment.
The blaze in a portion of a three-story building was reported under control at 2:10 a.m. Monday and was later extinguished.
Fire officials said the cause of the blaze was under investigation, and it was unclear whether there were working smoke detectors in the home.
