ZELIENOPLE, Pa. (AP) — A memorial service has been set for a western Pennsylvania native gunned down in the mass shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. last week.

The memorial for 50-year-old Frank Kohler, of Tall Timbers, Md., has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the English Lutheran Church in Zelienople (zee-lee-en-OH'-pul), about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Kohler was raised in the borough and later graduated from nearby Slippery Rock University.

Kohler was a subject matter expert for the Navy Marine Corps Intranet Project, and had been a government support specialist for more than 27 years before he was one of 12 people gunned down Sept. 16 by Aaron Alexis, a Naval employee who was then fatally shot by police.

Kohler's survivors include his wife, Michelle, and two daughters, Meghan and Alexandra.
