CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) — The uncle of a girl involved in a fight among cheerleaders at a Pennsylvania youth football game is headed to trial amid allegations he assaulted an off-duty state trooper who was trying to break it up.

WHTM-TV reported ( that 29-year-old Damien Jones of Harrisburg waived a preliminary hearing Monday and allowed charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct to proceed to Cumberland County court.

Police said the trooper was trying to make an arrest after a 13-year-old cheerleader wouldn't stop fighting at the Sept. 15 game.

Authorities said that's when Jones, the uncle of one of the cheerleaders, attacked the trooper and knocked him down.

A formal arraignment was scheduled for Dec. 19.
