BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — Police say they're investigating a tip that a missing central Pennsylvania district attorney who was connected to the Jerry Sandusky abuse case was murdered and dumped in a mine shaft.
Bellefonte police Detective Matthew Rickard says the tip regarding the 2005 disappearance of Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar (GREE'-kar) is being investigated and that the FBI was involved, the Altoona Mirror (http://bit.ly/18fGGBn ) reports Friday.
In 1998 Gricar decided not to charge Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant football coach, after the mother of one abuse victim complained to State College police.
Earlier this year, a judge declared Gricar dead at the request of Gricar's daughter.
Gricar's nephew says he takes the new claim with a grain of salt, because there have been so many false leads over the years.
