BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a man was struck and killed by a train over the weekend.

Emergency dispatchers in Beaver County say the man was struck at about 1 p.m. Saturday on the Norfolk Southern tracks in Beaver Falls.

Norfolk Southern spokesman Dave Pidgeon said the conductor blew a warning whistle before the man was struck.

He said the train was hauling mixed freight and consisted of 102 cars and three locomotives.

Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi said 29-year-old James M. Cole Jr. died from blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

Police are investigating the death.
