He was a 20-year employee of Bush Industries and previously worked at the former Firches Bakery. He attended New Heights United Methodist Church and was a member of Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, Sons of the Legion.
He will be remembered for his famous chicken barbecue. An avid NASCAR and football fan, he followed Jeff Gordon and the New York Jets. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and four wheeling, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Michael Finch, whom he married May 13, 1972; a daughter, Paula Kendall of Sinclairville; three sons: Barry Jr., and William Finch, both of Jamestown, and Joseph Finch of Busti; seven grandchildren: Terry, Tanya, Ashley Kendall, all of Sinclairville, Collin and Xander Finch and Preston Finch-Grekulak, all of Jamestown, and Shania Finch of Sherman; three brothers: Ray ''Sonny'' Finch of Jamestown, Larry Finch of Rocky Point, N.C., and Tim Finch of Russell, Pa.; and three sisters: Jean Ickes of Youngsville, Pa., Diane Davis of King George, Va., and Bonnie Piazza of Falconer.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died March 13, 1996; and his mother, who died April 7, 1993.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Gordon Robbins of New Heights United Methodist Church will officiate.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
