Dear editor: I’m writing to express my concern about Warren Area School District continuously bringing up the idea of half-day kindergarten....

Kindergarten isn't important. What is important is each town keeps their local high school. geesh!

It all comes down to money, folks...It all comes down to money. Half day kindergarten requires half as many teachers.

Myself and all of my children went to half-day kindergarten and all are okay. They're always on the merit honor roll. One was valedictorian and graduated college Magna****Laude. Half-day kindergarten works just fine. The only problem is that it forces parents to be more responsible for their kids and cuts their gov't sponsored (all-day) child care. Pre-K (Head Start) is nothing more than removing parental responsibility.

Magna****Laude, now that's funny. How about if we spell it phonetically: "coom". Is that better?

oldgran: So what you're saying is - if we cut things, they cost less? So if we have two less high schools, things would cost 1/2 as much for the WCSD? HOLY MOLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grantland. WOW, that was a stretch! my comment, of course implied that half as many teachers would cost half as much in salaries and benefits. When the district budget is 65% salaries and benefits, where would you cut?
