Teachers have been doing curriculum mapping for the last three-four years. YEARS! The problem with the curriculum mapping is that they write things down on paper but then never follow it--the majority of teachers go back to their own classrooms and continue teaching like they have for the last 10 years. What my daughter is learning in her one class is completely different from what students in another building are learning in theirs because her teacher refuses to go with the new curriculum map.

The solution isn't needing to take time to write more curriculum--it is taking the time to enforce that what is written is followed by all teachers.

Mary Anne, Thanks for voting "NO". In the corporate world, we would send ONE person from the company to be trained and become the expert and that person would be the live trainer and mentor for the program rather than sending multiple persons or having multiple training sessions just like this one. Well, it's the taxpayer's (our) money and now they want an exception to the index for expenses the Board and administration knew were coming 5 years ago. Well, C'est la vie... P.S. Look at all the conferences (PSBA) in Hersey which were attended by multiple board members at one time.

Lol....according to the district, the funding is in the budget...what budget? Oh, you mean the one that is 4+ million dollars in deficit and the one that the district is seeking an exception for to raise taxes above the index to pay for??? Its too bad this board member was the only one asking questions of an expense and that the board doesn't question more of those expenses...maybe that's why our district isn't supplying our students what they need and even the high school valedictorians over the last couple years are not always getting into their first or even second choice post secondary schools...
