Warren County has a heluva lot to offer. But since the bickering won't stop, the tourists will continue to stay away. Sedona, AZ has a strange mix of liberals and conservatives, and believe it or not, they actually get along, especially when it comes to the distribution of money to attract tourism. Business is booming in Sedona. I know. I live less than 20 away from there. Warren can be the same way, but they have to get over their petty jealousies.

The Pennsylvania Association of Travel and Tourism has the authority to audit the WCVB and they wrote a letter supporting the visitors bureau. The commissioners are simply a pass through agency for this money. Simple fact is they have more control over the chamber and can, therefore, control the money. This isn't just a money grab, it's a control/power grab.

It is not about control, it is about responsibility. If the allegations are correct and the WCVB has taken a million dollars of tax money without providing any accounting, then the commissioners are responsible to take action. A recent letter to the editor from a former WCVB board member alleged that $100,000 of taxpayer money is missing. If that is true, then taxpayers will rightfully demand to know how this could happen and blame the commissioners for their lack of oversight. Setting aside the hyperbole and name calling, there exists more than enough smoke to justify a search for a fire.

Amen. Good column WTO. Question: Why is it so important to the county commissioners (and city councilors AND WCSD board members on other issues) to have absolute control? The totalitarian approach is coming unraveled. Yet a majority of citizens vote for it again and again and again. Why?
