First of all why don't you go to a meeting and hear what is being said instead of reading one side? Mr. Chapel is a disgruntled WCCBI advocate, there is no missing $100,000 as proven by the audits handed in. The fact that 26 of 27 municipalities have not signed the commissioners resolution is a big statement by the people of Warren County. You also might to ask WCCBI why they are not showing financials that include the large losses.

I believe that the commissioners were pretty clear in a previous WTO article that they have repeatedly requested financials from WCVB and have yet to get them with over a million already handed to them from the bed tax. It needs to be accounted for.

What's your take on the endorsement of the Pennsylvania Association of Travel and Tourism in today's WTO? Seems like everyone is happy with the status-quo except the commissioners and the chamber who simply want the money.

They are charged with the fiscal oversight of the tax, it is not only their right, it is their responsibility to do so until audited books are provided.

It's not their money to withhold.

I don't think that withholding the bed tax money until there is a properly prepared and audited set of books is unreasonable.

I don't think it's even about the money so much as control and authority. The WCCBI is comfortably "managed" by the commissioners and the the WCVB is not. Keep all the money in the trusted hands of an elite leadership, then trust them to do the right thing. For them, that is. I'll bet this article in the WTO almost made John Bortz's head burst into flames this morning. He will NOT be challenged. He will NOT be questioned. Warren County operates under the feudal system.

What concerns me is that the County Commissioners have the official tally and that they have already indicated the bed tax may not be included. Is something shady going on behind the scenes? I am concerned of conflict of interests with the commissioners on the WCCBI. It may be time to really look at what the Commissioners have their hands into and how they are spending our tax dollars.
