I think the math is a little off. They say it is a cut of $1.40 per person per meal. $36.00 divided by 4 people, divided by 30 days, divided by 3 meals equals $0.10. Ten cents per meal doesn't have the same shock effect as $1.40 now does it?

This is not a "cut." Instead, it is the end of the stimulus add-on, a return to the status quo before the stimulus. Stop whining.

Food stamps cut? I wonder how this will affect local bath salt sales. More money going to groceries for their kids, less to get high? I doubt it. More trips to food pantries. We've grown accustomed to the "it takes a village" and "my kids aren't my responsibility" mentalities. If they go hungry, it's society's fault. Will DUIs diminish? Nope. We can ALWAYS find money for beer, and the kids be d a m n e d.

Welfare fraud is a class-warfare hoax perpetrated by people like you to help you sleep at night. Illegal "users" of the system are the minority exception, not the rule. People are hurting and the one's that aren't hurting don't care.

Gary, my opinion is established by what I, yes ME, not others, have witnessed with my own eyes. It is not a hoax. It is FACT. Go to the ER and witness the abuse of free healthcare. Go to a grocery store and watch SNAP cards used, then the person stop and dump $20, $40 into lottery ticket machines. I'm all for helping those who need it. The gov't should have no part in it. Socialism should have no place in America, and yes before you ask, including the abused (and failing) Social Security Ponzi scheme.

Gary, how do you feel about MANDATORY drug testing for ALL recipients of public assistance? According to you, very few would fail the tests. I have to pass tests in order to keep my job and support public assistance. How about recipients? Would you support a life-time ban on all assistance for anyone who fails a drug test?

Anecdotal evidence in not admissible. Maybe you should shop in better joints. As for drug testing, I'd be for it. Except that it would cost more than the food assistance. More government waste of tax dollars. Bottom line is the USA is the most prosperous nation in the history of the Earth. No one inside the borders of this country should go hungry even if it takes a food pantry on every corner.

I guess you don't know what anecdotal means. Just because YOU saw someone abuse public assistance doesn't mean the statistics on welfare fraud match up with YOUR experience. Welfare fraud is NOT rampant except in your little universe.
