November 2, 2013

Calling last year’s Christmas parade “lame,” Main Street President Dan Ristau offered some clarity on Friday about what will take place in this year’s edition of the Christmas Walk....

"Lame" Really? Even though I do not care for parades, some truly love them. To call a parade lame diminishes all the effort those folks put into it last year. A little more "people skills" goes a long way.

Apparently hundreds or thousands have actually LIKED the parade for 40 years. Maybe for one night it's not about the business's, Scrooge. Too much arrogance in this article in my opinion. Trust you to change tradition? Maybe you should leave well enough alone.

Blah, blah, keeping it the same for 40 years is the reason no one shows up. Quit being so opposed to change and try something new or different. It's 2013 in Warren, PA not 1970...embrace change

What if the parade is kept on the same route, but at the end of the parade, encourage the people watching the parade to follow Santa to the businesses. The marching band usually plays "Here Comes Santa Claus" so why not have them play a couple other easy Christmas carols and everyone can sing along as they join the end of the parade. Christmas caroling is old fashioned and easy to do. They can print up the carols in the newspaper ahead of time so everyone can have them.

"Blah, blah, keeping it the same for 40 years is the reason no one shows up. Quit being so opposed to change and try something new or different. It's 2013 in Warren, PA not 1970...embrace change" Change for what reason? No one shows up? REALLY? The children of 1970 are not the children of today, that's why tradition works so well, there's a constant turnover of new children. Trusting in misguided "change" didn't work so well in the 2008 election, now did it? If Mr. Ristau wants change, let's hear what the plan is. I prefer A PLAN, NOT TRUST. Trust has gotten us into the mess we're in.

yes the parade could use a little help be a little longer few more floats but to call it lame is rude. My daughter loves the parade to see Santa coming to town. She is so crushed there is to be no parade this year. have you ever thought that its not so much the parade thats the problem but the types of bussinesses?

Creampuff, you mean you don't want to go buy some really used clothing, old books, or perhaps new body jewelry or maybe a good cigar after visiting Santa? Come on, you may find some good Christmas presents!
