Short and to what point? Your letter lost me.You equate acceptance of others to what owning a gun? I own 11 including pistols and really don't get the problem.. I believe the problem might be people don't understand who's job it is to interpret the constitution. May the God of your understanding help us if you think its the Tea Party.

I would like to comment as to WHY liberals seem to be anti-gun.

First, I am (as a general rule) against gun regulations; I just want to explain the mindset.

Most liberals (which I am) are from large cities. Having lived in a large city my reaction to seeing a gun there is completely different than seeing a gun in Warren county. (Even a rifle)

When you see a gun in or around a major city, my first thought is "Holy crap! This is a potentially dangerous person."

Seeing the same gun in or around a small town. my first thought is "Holy crap! That's a nice gun."

Why the difference? Intent. In a small town you can safely assume that someone with a gun is using it for recreational/hunting purposes. In a large city you cannot make that assumption because all too often, they aren't.

That is it in a nutshell. From many people's perspective; while they intellectually know that guns can and are used for recreational purposes... they have only seen them used to hurt other

The opposite is true for cities and Muslims. While living in the city, I did not go a day without seeing someone in a burka. It wasn't a big deal.

But, in Warren the majority of information on Muslims comes from the terrorists that threaten our world.

Context. Perspective.

"Their 'religion' and 'holy' book dictates that Islam take over the world and that you are a heretic if you do not obey this fundamental command." -- LocalYokel

The same could be said about the christian bible. There is plenty of violence and genocide in the bible. But, we don't directly fear christians (aside from the random nutjob) because msot interpret their bible differently. So to do most Muslims with the Torah.

Personally I think that religion in general has dangers, but that is a different debate.

Made a mistake in my last post: What I said: So to do most Muslims with the Torah.

What I meant: So to do most Muslims with the Koran.

You make some good points and I concede the jihadists constitute a present danger.

I would like to point out though, that it was not that long ago that Christianity was using terrorist tactics in the name of their god. This goes back to religions in general present a danger.

History shows that any religion that states anywhere in their text that it is ok to kill; people will do it. Now, when you put a religion in charge of an army... well, bad things happen. To think that YOUR religion is different is to flat out ignore the evidence otherwise.

As far as comparing Islam and Christianity; It is altogether fitting and proper that we do so. Ignoring the fact that they are both imperialistic religions, they are also apples from the same tree. Christianity shares it origins with Islam.

To put it simply: RELIGION is evil. You probably simply do not realize this yet, but if you live long enough you will find out.
