The doctors? I don't know? How can there be so many prescriptions out there? There is only one avenue for this correct? People can't grow pills in their garden.

Pirate, not everyone abuses their meds so you really shouldn't assume that. I agree there is a prescription drug problem, but a lot of the pills turned in are probably from older people or responsible people that may have had an injury, got meds and didn't need them all and they've been sitting in a cabinet. Could you clarify who you mean when you say "they" should re-evaluate? I'm glad the city has the program and you should be too. And I paid for my health care by working my rear end off all my life before I hurt my back and neck thank you very much and no, I don't use pain meds. I am not trying to be harsh but too many people assume too many things and I'm tired of hearing people gripe about paying taxes for health care. You're going to need it at some point too but I worked for mine and I've earned it.

What they should do is go and re-evaluate all the prescriptions that are there and find out if these people really need what they claim. #1 choice of drug on the streets right now is prescription pain pills. If there are that many floating around in our communities, then not only are people selling them to our children, but there also profiting off them as well. On top of that, its probably the tax payer paying for their healthcare too. We should have door stops like probation offices checking these people bottles to determine if the use is on track?

This is great! Everyone that has unused pills of any kind laying around should take advantage of this service. Often a doctor will prescribe a month worth of pain medicine for a minor surgery and the patient may only take a weeks worth. To many addicts are after these drugs for use or resell. They will break in to your home to get it!
