According to the God of Abraham, marriage is between a man and a woman. He calls homosexuality an abomination. ----- YES, I know, there are those of you who don’t believe in “HIM” and will call me all kind of names. (that’s ok) You have no “FEAR of HIM” and you enjoy mocking “HIM.” ----- But I’m here to tell you folks -----HE is setting upon his throne, his SON is seated at his right hand, HE is still in charge (regardless of what you may think), H*LL is still burning and judgment is coming - unless we repent as a nation.

Good for you, Reader. Following in the footsteps of Abraham, who had three wives.

Backwoods and Jimmy, since you seem to be devout followers of the Bible, may I assume that you killed your children for disobedience as Jesus says to do in Matthew 15 and that you own slaves, as long as they are from neighboring countries? Romans classifies those who gossip and boast the same as disobedient children. May we assume that you regularly kill your family and friends for these offenses? Either you believe in the bible or you don't. If you pick and choose your versus, then you are not a believer and what you say is YOUR word, not a god's word. Fortunately, most of the free world is more moral than the god of the bible and we make our own moral decisions instead of letting 2000 year old unsophisticated men rule us.

BrookP, it is easy to take things out context. Who was Jesus talking to and what was he saying? He was talking to the Pharisees about how they were changing God’s commandment to “honor thy father and thy mother.” Those who followed the commandment were blessed with a long number of days; those who did not suffered a premature death. This is what Jesus was saying.

Now on the other hand (in today world) a Muslim will (father, brother or male relative) kill a young woman if they have s*x out of wedlock and call it an honor killing.

Our President has said that the most beautiful sound he ever heard was the Muslim call to prayer. I wonder what his thoughts are on “honor killings”???

BrookP – on one hand people like you amaze me, and on the other hand I feel sorry for you, for you see I was once where you are. So now I’m going to pray for you with the hope that you may end up where I now am. You see, I say that I know most all of the lies, because I have told most of them. It’s amazes me how clear hindsight is when the scales come off.

BrookP – I have to ask….”Are you ready to step into Eternity”??? …We’re all just one heart beat away, hope you know the reality that.

BrookP – you speak of murdering children for disobedience; so tell me BrookP what have the 55 million babies that have been murdered in the last 40 years done that you would call a disobedient act??? Was it inconvenience???

Liberals/Progressives are the ones pushing this form of murder!!! What is your stand on this issue??? I'll bet you think it's OK!!!

Please note that backwoods and wtoreader have avoided the question of whether they follow the bible or not, as is typical when the bible is put to the moral test. Followers avoid and deflect. Backwoods, we're not talking Muslim or President. They were not in the topic. We're talking about the vile orders that god and jesus make throughout the bible. Killing disobedient children is a theme throughout the bible. My point being, and this is a direct question: do you believe the bible is the word of god? If yes, why do you not follow it? If no, why do you quote it?

The fact that we are all one heart beat away from death is exactly why I care what I think is the truth. We return to the ground, just like all other living things. Sorry, that's it. There is absolutely no evidence to the contrary. So, we live full, productive, and good lives until that time.

wtoreader, please put your prayers to better use. How about putting in a word for the children who die every minute from starvation and child abuse. Seems your god doesn't care about that or he would stop it. Or, it's "part of his plan" and therefore admits he's a disgusting entity.

BrookP at some point in time you can explain yourself to Father God and his son Jesus because every head will bow and every knee will bend and YOU will proclaim that Christ is Lord. Now you might think differently but I know better.

First of all, I would never bow down to such vile creature, even if they existed, just as I wouldn't bow down to a mafia boss threatening me with eternal torture. My 5 yr old is more moral than that. Second, you obviously don't follow the bible. If you did, our more moral society would have arrested you by now for crimes against humanity. Third, the fact that you don't follow the bible means you've made a moral judgement about it in that some parts of it are obviously terrible things to do to people. You have made a moral judgement of your god. Fourth, you are only Christian because of where you were born and to whom you were born. You did not evaluate the hundreds of religions and then decide. If you were born in Pakistan, you'd be Muslim. In India, Hindu. Perhaps you need to be alone with your thoughts. It would seem that religious people use more logic picking out a toaster than thinking about our origins, which by the way no one knows how we originated. We don't make it up.

The only thing I'm confused about here is which God are you talking about? Eli (Hebrew), Elohim (Aramaic), Allah (Islamic), because if you are talking about the "God of Abraham," then you are talking about all three. There are three Abrahamic religions. Christians don't have exclusive rights to interpreting "God's will."

BrookP = I think you will bow regardless of what you might say now. As the Bible says in: Philippians 2:10 Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Yes BrookP – I follow the Bible as best as I can, but I do fall short and have to repent for my short comings.

Thirdly BrookP – I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ or the Bible.

No BrookP – I am not a Christian because I was born here. True, I was raised in church but as a young adult I quite going, I knew about God but did not know him. As I entered middle age the Holy Spirit touched me and I was born again. (there is a difference between knowing about and knowing)

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Matthew 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.

Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

What did Christ instruct his disciples to do, if they were not received to shake the dust off their sandals and go on down the road.

I guess it time for me to shake the dust off.

Backwoods, I pray (pun intended) that someday you will be able to step outside of your brainwashing, and think rationally about the world. It always amazes me how seemingly intelligent people fall prey to made-up supernatural beings. All I can come up with is gullibility. That's why science tests, and retests by many independent sources to make rational, verifiable conclusions about our world. You have no evidence that a god exists, nor do you have any evidence that if one did exist that one religion is the correct interpretation of the entity. The Bible, the Quran, native American teachings, Hindu teachings, etc.-no one is more valid than the other. A story book cannot prove its own validity. Without independent proof, it is just meaningless conjecture. Hopefully, someday religion will be gone and we will finally have peace, in which humans are valued instead of who's religion beats who's.

wtoreader, I have read the Bible. It is one of the most ridiculous story books, around, full of obsurdities, evil treatment of humans, and self-conflicting. It's been translated hundreds of times. The Catholic church had control over it for 300 years (imagine what they might have done to it). It's not even likely that it says what it orginally said, in many cases. Also, I have no mental anguish or hatred. On the contrary, I live a full, productive, good and happy life. I'm not burdened by religious dogma. I like most people (even ones I disagree with, philosophically). I'm doing fine, actually. If you want to believe without any rational reason, that is certainly your right, as long as your belief doesn't hinder others' rights to equality under our Constitution.
