To whomever disagreed with me about the planning of the addition. If you were told otherwise, all you have to do is look at what the board approved and sent to the state as the plans for the addition. It is not what the end spec committee wanted and is nothing but classroom space. It will be a step up for sugar Grove kids because of the age of their building but a definite step down for Russell students.

As far as finances, let's compare the cost of rent at co verse what we owe on Russell plus the cost of the k-12 addition which is an interest based loan, not part of qzab. Let's do these comparisons and let's see what could have been if SES and RES eventually consolidated to RES. I'm sure one could have been a much better financially responsible decision....

Continued... if you live in that attendance area, have young kids, and are expecting the reno/addition to be the great and wonderfully planned out opportunity that Russell is, you will be disappointed....

the issue with this is many. We had spent monies, considerable amount, to upgrade the fiber for the internet and phone at the current CO. Now we are leaving that behind BUT I can't help but wonder what the heck elementary parents out there are doing. our district will be paying on RES for many years. The huge renovation was only a short time ago. The reno was based on education components and needs of the students. It is probably the best laid out school in the district. What these kids are leaving it for will be solely classroom space. The new k-12 was and is not being planned out and built for educational needs. Instead it is being built solely as space. The ed spec committee who worked with then superintendent Hufnagel planned out the space but then Hufnagel and the board approved other plans and sent those to the state. The idea was to make it solely classroom space for future versatility....continued

Having visited the CO and the other areas that the WCSD leases that the lease rate would approx. be about $4.00 a sg ft which includes utilities. Now, what are the costs of electric, heat, water, sewage, etc at Russell per month? Deduct that from your figures and tell us what the cost is actually. I would much rather all the taxpayers (probably from sales tax) pay the heat bill than us few who pay school taxes get stuck with it. So we have about $125,000 a year you say. What's the renovations costing? A new roof, heat system, water system or parts of any. So you sell the bldg. for 2 million and you have 16 years of lease payments. By the way, are certain CO personnel getting mileage to show up for work?

Repurposing Russell, Get Ready taxpayers, the Circus is about to begin. There is NO WAY the Central office move to Russell is cheaper than the leased space at Warren State Hospital. The pocket change payment WCSD makes to H-burg and the hospital covers all utilities, landscaping, snow removal and all repairs. Just the cost of renovation to Russell will lease this space in the future for a number of years. Again, us taxpayers are getting the short end of the stick. The stupid reason to do this is "it's our building", Sell it and pay the lease for probably 25 years. Inefficiency, insensitivity, and incompetence appear to be in epidemic proportions by the BOD and administration. Let's see a R2K on what us taxpayers pay H-burg and the hospital.
