New Exams Require New Policy

District blames vague state requirements

Lack of clarity on the part of the state has caused the Warren County School District to make revisions to policies regarding academic standards and graduation testing requirements....

Last school year the district put kids through a lot of stress telling them that these are a current requirement when they weren't a requirement yet. The district is also preparing to have remediation classes for kids that don't pass. These are not requirements for students graduating BEFORE 2017. The only thing the district has to do is turn in 11th grade scores since there is no pssa and the district is expected to meet 95% ayp. The problem is that although this is a issue between district and state the district has been pressuring the kids to retake tests following remediation although this responsibility is not the kids yet. These scores are suppose to be a benchmark, so to see where chips are falling before the requirement kicks in....
