While he will claim it as income, he will be further ahead because he will get to deduct his expenses through taxes...

Without receipts for expenses, wouldn't an IRS audit determine that as taxable income? This "solution" is sloppy at best.

You have to hand it to our Board President and band of followers. They showed a complete lack of accountability with the former Board President. So the solution is to have absolutely no accountability with the new superintendent. I have had moving expenses in the past included in job offers. Never once was it carte blanche. It was always an amount up to a certain figure with receipts required. This Board President hasn't taken responsibility he's decided to totally abdicate it. Just show us a picture of your mailbox and we'll give you the money.

It should have read "be reimbursed up to $2,500..." and "up to $7,500..." upon presentation of receipts. Who do they think he is: A state legislator drawing unaccountable per diems?

First, nothing is ever permanent, that word should not be in there. Second, you would think this board would have learned why they were criticized over the last supers expenses. Apparently they didn't understand. Before, the community was upset because there was no accountability, they handed monies over for frivolous moving expenses. Instead of listening to the complaints of the community, they had decided to put into his contract a relocation bonus. This is not moving expenses. He will not have to submit even one receipt. Great job school board, you really listen to the concerns in the county!
