Good for the Attorney General. She recognizes the equality for which the Constitution stands. Each generation fixes some of the wrongs of the past. Just as past generations fixed a woman's right to vote and mixed-race marriages, this generation will continue to move our country towards the promises of the Constitution. In this country, marriage is a civil contract/institution. There is no reason to prevent one consenting adult from choosing any other consenting adult to love and marry.

The original suit said nothing about being prevented from loving and living with each other. The suit was about the tax incentives given to those that are legally declared "married". This was about the ability to collect assets from a relationship where they were not specified in a will and to do so without paying income taxes on those assets. It has nothing to do with "marriage", and everything to do with the transfer of assets.
