Well put SOS. Old Gran you've been completely exposed. Imagine the laughter you've provided when you are given a chance to state your case and you lamely come up with that "I'm to far gone". I made my points on this issue and you walked off the tennis court (my favorite recreational pursuit)without even attempting to return the volley. I'll just assume for whatever reason that you are one of President/Superintendent Stewart's sychophants.

Old gran it is obvious that you either don't attend meetings or are in the PR business for the board. Your argument is exactly the same dribble and bs that our school board President dishes out. It is fine for a board to agree but to do it just for appearance sake, even when you don't is detrimental to those they serve. Mr. Stewart has condemned past board members for asking too many questions and not maintaining that cohesive atmosphere that he prefers. Unfortunately after years of him chastising those who do not conform we now have the rubber stamp that we have today.

If I have to explain it to you, you are too far gone to understand.

What I'm saying is that the consistency of the 8-1 or 9-0 vote suggests some far from normal consensus. It represents a herd mentality led by a President who constantly exhibits a lack of concern for the students of the County. Please explain how a Board votes unanimously for gigantic bonuses for execs during a time when actual student services were being cut to the bone then 3 months lates votes the complete opposite. How a Board votes 9-0 to adapt a silly transfer policy full of holes for influential monied folks with no exceptions for bullying etc. and then three weeks later votes 8-1 to include exceptions. Sounds to me like there is one person that pushes the buttons and pretty much everyone else follows in a docile manner. Grants cave in on the tax issue is just anotherve example. Feel free to find alternative facts

So what you're saying is, no nine people should be of a like mind and all vote the same way?

Old Gran --- and yours proved mine. You didn't read the article and you've apparently not followed or done any research into what this School Board does and the voting patterns and records of its members.

Old Gran - Maybe you should go back and read the Times Observer account of Tax discussion in order to understand the context of my remark. I could provide several other examples as well but that is what I based my comment on so that is probably the most germane example. My larger point is the Board in most cases in my opinion a bunch of sheep being led by the Board President. I watch 9-0 votes for executive bonuses followed 3 months later by 9-0 votes to terminate. 9-0 votes on transfer policies followed by 8-1 votes to change it 3 weeks later. The Board doesn't show much evidence of independent thinking on most issues and I believe the President has been an absolute disaster for student needs in this County.

Brazil, Just because you disagree with president Stewart,s opinions, does that mean that anyone that does agree with him is wrong??

Board member Grant sounded serious about holding the line but then again he sounded serious about not following Board President Stewart's headline grab of no tax increase because he knew the bill later would end up being more when relying on one time revenue streams. Unfortunately once the vote was held he caved in to Board President Stewart's position for another near unanimous School Board vote.

This practice began years ago, all over the country. It should not be the burden of the taxpayer to fund extra-carricular activities. Nothing in life is free and this is clear at all levels, including highschool.
