The owner was allowed to take the dog. Ok, and were there any cruelty to animals or neglect charges filed? In this heat, anyone knows that leaving a dog in a car in this heat for too long can kill it. Some people shouldn't be, and don't deserve to be, pet owners.

Sever a dog's paw, plead down to ticket and small fine. Self-castrate a cat, cat dies, same scenario. What "Anyone knows" is what is modeled: few consequences.

"and were there any cruelty to animals or neglect charges filed?"

And where were the theft from motor vehicle charges?

Why was it given back? I hope with a fine at least! Saw one at Walmart, BUT the car was running with the a/c running.

I completely agree with what Tera and Karen did. I am sick and tired of people that have animals and don't appreciate them as one of the family. I struggle each day (in summer mos.) with whether or not to bring my dog - who LOVES car rids - with me to various places. IF I do, I guarantee that I have an extra set of keys, leave the air ON, crack a window slightly and NEVER leave her for longer than 5 minutes, plus park in front of a window that I can ck. on her. I only wish that people would realize that nobody makes you have an animal. If you can't treat it as one of the family, just don't have one!! KUDOS to people like Tera & Karen!! Keep up the great work ladies!!
