Those nests held tent caterpillars, not Gypsy Moth caterpilars, sof. Gypsy Moths worms hatch from egg masses that appear on trees, mostly oaks. Why are you blaming others when you also had the chance to comment? The forest has bigger threats than worms awaiting it. Go check out the huge clearcut and well pad near Jakes Rocks if you can get past the security guards.

So, let's get this straight--you are po'd about the chomping worms, but not about clearcut acres capped with gravel, with heavy truck traffic, fracking (etc, etc) but worms are what you are concerned about. And security guards keeping you away are also OK? Pathetic.

Repeated defoliation over several years can often lead to tree stress and death. Conifers can die after one severe defoliation as they are unable to produce new needles after defoliation. Gypsy moth defoliation can predispose trees to attack by opportunistic insects or diseases.

And don't get me started on all of the fecal droppings they create.

Yes, the drillers own the subsurface rights and legally have access to develop thier OGMs and bring them to market. If you were so concerned about well sites, why not join a group, raise money, and purchase the OGM rights from the owner? Then you could exercise your right as owner not to develop.

As far as the security guards, it is for your protection, protection of the owner's investment, and prevention of damage to the localized environment from possible discharge due to illegal acts of a radically motivated person(s).
