It was the first time in recent memory that a Memorial Day service was not conducted on the steps of the Warren County Courthous....

If there is money involved (pay to play on sports teams and/or drink beer, pay bands to perform, charge admission), then charge the fee, whether it's at Warren or Soldiers/Sailors. If no money involved (Four Flags, Memorial Day), no fee. Simple, isn't it?

Fees for other groups, including non-profits, is fine, but veteran ceremonies in monument parks should have no charge. It's the least we can do. The citizens can afford to cover this minor amount.

In order to undo a mistake, Council must first admit a mistake. That's something that this Council does not have the courage or political will to do.
