Our opinion: Make it a ‘high-end’ park

April 26, 2013

Want the best view of the City of Warren and its meandering river? Ask anyone who lives here and they will tell you of a place at the top of the hill just north and west of the city called Washingto......

Once or twice a month, my weekend job required me to work near the park. Some of those days the work was very physical and difficult. A quick stop in the little parking lot and a look up the valley always refreshed me at the end of the day.

Are you saying that the high-end homes in midtown haven't all sold out immediately? I am SHAWCKED! I can't see turning over public land for snobs to build houses there. And if the city thinks it costs too much to maintain the access road now, wait until those people demand no-snow pavement in winter, mud-free status in spring, etc. Keep it as a park. Seek an endowment for maintenance costs. Where is Joe DeFreese when you need him? If we would have let him put a few bells there, he probably would have underwritten annual road access costs. Any other well-to-do people seeking a plaque in their honor?

I blame the city for this park going on used. Poor access and the one monument that is supposed to be there is missing it's plaque. It would make a great spot to put in a fenced in dog park.

Because nothing says "high end" better than a fenced in dog park?

Our family have enjoyed this little park for many years, although it, too (like the remainder of Warren County) has experienced the increased disturbance of the oil industry. There has to be some oversight to maintain order and conditions.

High end I think that is a joke Warren has enough high end things that are going to waste. Down town housing for example.
