Great, lets tax an organization we haven't taxed in the past... increased health care costs on top of the Obama caused increases.... if they have to pay more, they have to pass it along...or worse, could chose to move out of Warren to a location that won't tax them. need to think this through.

"on top of the Obama caused increases". Well there is a political statement. Yes big bad Obama. Where were you when health care costs were rising 130% from 2000-2009? Who was President then? What did he do about it? NOTHING. Obama's plan may or may not work but at least he didn't bury his head in the sand. Oh and where is the Hospital moving exactly? To Georgia? The Hospital isn't going anywhere. Now who owns the hospital in the future is another story. Don't be surprised if local control disappears when the current local leadership sails off into retirement or semi-retirement. Remember you heard that in advance so you aren't surprised when it happens. The motivation for that action is not hard to figure out.

Great. Let's drive another big employer out of business. Pinch a pound to save a penny.

UPMC has been looking at the hospital for over a year now. That's nothing new and won't be a suprise.

They've been "looking" at it for a long, long time. What I am saying is that don't be surprised if the sale conveniently coincides with other milestones. As far as the Hospital going out of business, puhleeeze. That is not going to happen and is just a scare tactic.

Several years back, my doctor recommended that I get a colonoscopy, and set up an appointment for me at WGH. I had Freedom Blue for my supplemental and was told that WGH didn't accept it. Instead, I traveled to Bradford Hospital at 5am in winter weather to prepare for it and had to have a relative drive with me. Those of you familiar with the procedure know the problems that entails. Fortunately, Bradford and the attending physician accepted my insurance. Another friend's wife underwent an emergency gall bladder removal at WGH and it cost a couple thousand dollars more because, once again, they would not accept Freedom Blue. Bet there are hundreds of cases just like these.

It would be interesting to see how 400,000 plus for the CEO and 225,000 plus for Mr. California and Mr. Marsh, who has since left, compares to similar sized hospitals in similar areas of New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

"Great. Let's drive another big employer out of business. Pinch a pound to save a penny". Okay, so do you think just because a company is a "big employer" it should not be taxed? Based on that theory Blair, National Forge, United, Wal-Mart should all be tax exempt.
