I have had several discussions over the years with Ms. Peterson and most of them related to the School Board have been ones where I took the opposite side of the fence but I have always felt that though our opinions were different that she in her heart had the best interests of the kids as her primary motivation. So this letter comes as no surprise. I believe Ms. Peterson has laid down on paper a well thought out and damning indictment of School Board members and in particular the School Board President. This Board has frittered away any last vestige of public trust. Their actions in this case provide one of the poorest examples of leadership and accountability imaginable to the students and public that purport to serve. It goes as far as to call into question the relationship between the Board’s decision and the bonus payments to top School District employees. At one point I thought it was just a callous disregard for the Students, Faculty and Support Personnel that they have asked t

CONTINUED ----to make sacrifice after sacrifice. Now I’m left wondering if there’s more to it then even that. Unfortunately I can’t depend on this Board to ever learn the answers to that question or any others. How depressing it is to have to depend on the local Newspaper and local concerned citizens to utilize Right to Know laws to uncover these disgraceful actions.

I attended a board meeting and asked some questions about the consolidation of WAEC and SSELC. Some of these questions were new and very important. Example: "What is the capacity at WAEC including adults?" They looked at me, didn't answer, and proceeded to close SSELC with questions still unanswered. Shame on WTO for not printing any of the questions the next day. The administration can keep eating filet mignon, measuring for air conditioners at Russell for when central office takes over, and keep hush hush about missing fundraising money and we are all supposed to just keep taking it and ahut up. I don't think so. 960 kids plus adults in a building ment for a capacity of 750? We need all new blood in there. I am personally sick and tired of seeing the staff and children take all of the cuts while they take pay raises and behave in ways like this. The staff is to afraid to speak out. I have lost ALL faith that the administration will put the childrens needs ahead of all e

Mrs. Peterson seems to have summed up the problem: Not quite criminal, but certainly unsavory. In my experience, this is what happens when boards, which are supposed to provide oversight, get too chummy with administrators they hire. They get hung up on how best to extricate the individual, forgetting that their primary responsibility is not to the superintendent, but to the taxpayers.

Nicole - Went to the Mayberry site. Why the privacy to your facebook site? Why not have it open to the public in general?

This school district disgusts me! The administration (and the board that approved it) that took a combined $10,000 a month pay raise should be embarrassed to show their faces in public! Every teacher, aide, janitor, and secretary in this district has taken on extra work due to furloughs! Teachers have been involuntarily transferred all over the place…and for many their pay freeze actually became a pay cut due to the increase in gas to get to their transferred school. Special Education teachers are teaching regular education classes in addition to case managing special education students, math teachers are teaching social studies classes in addition to math, high school teachers have 7 different preps so students have some sort of course offerings to choose from etc. DISGUSTING!

Additionally, just wait…I’m sure South Street was abruptly closed in order for the district to have a reason to furlough more teachers.

As I have said before when it comes time for the various union contracts to be negotiated the Unions should take the stance of "not one step backwards". I'll most probably end up paying more in taxes if they do that but they owe this Administration and Board, nothing, zero, zilch. They provided givebacks and the Board stabbed them in the back with regard to how they handled the reimbursements and other issues with the Superintendent as well as the prespective bonuses paid out to the top executives.

Brazil, the private facebook group is one that I didn't open but I been a member of since the begining. We have had this page for a few years and it was started when we organized in the central attendance are wearing green shirts. It is obviously no longer about green shirts and is about education. I often post on it to inform people of things in our district or education issues in general. Others also post on it, it is for all the members of the site to use. It was started private and has too many people for the setting to be changed. Once on it, you can add friends too. I thought offering that site would be a good outlet for those who wanted to discuss education. It is not a site that is solely meant to bash people, it is to expose the problems or cheer for the good stuff. When I saw, "Mayberry's" post about closing their site, I figured I would offer this alternative but I ask that people keep the purpose of the site in mind and not expect it to be a "Mayberry"

Thank you to Brazil, MTO and everyone else who has supported this letter. From statements made by a board member on Monday night, it is clear that he does not like the heat they are receiving. Later he made comments to our new board member about him not reading his emails from concerned citizens. It is obvious that he doesn't understand and that is disappointing. It was also shocking to hear another board member mention to our new member that executive sessions are the best part and thats where the real decisions are made. Wow. Executive sessions are for DISCUSSION only, decisions MUST be made in public. Our board has lost its way and it is up to the people to help them find it or the door.

As George Carlin said: That's why we don't post the Ten Commandments in courts (and govt offices) - it creates a hostile work environment.

OLDGRAN- ALL of it will come out in the end.I HOPE. All it is going take is for people of warren county to stand up for their kids! Call these people out. Employees of the district can only do so much. I could drop a few names but I will not. All you have to do is start asking, people will talk.

Old gran- are pictures fact enough for you? As 01skykar pointed out, it will all come out in the end! More people have first hand knowledge of this than most think. It's a popular place to go for Warrenites. Does the possibility exist that Brandon and others were seen there together and just maybe a few pics were snapped with 1 of those darn cell phones?!!! Hmmmm. Maybe. Just maybe.
