1/3 rd? Odd i took my boys to the Dr a month or so ago and paid cash for a 15 minute total visit with zero tests being done. They were both weighed, height taken, and ears throat and nose looked at. Diagnosis? Stomach virus. Prescription? Rest and fluids. Bill? 40 each kid ($80 total) at the office then i just got a bill for an additional $60 per kid for a total of $200 for 2 kids for 15 minutes or less with absolutely zero labs being run.

If i got a discount i would HATE to see what the regular bill would have been.

I think the problem with sky rocketing public costs are due to property owners not paying property taxes in a timely manner.

Both the YMCA and WGH have their budgets and fees set on the current tax free status. Who do you think is going to foot the bill for any increased costs they incur. They will simply raise their fees to the public to cover the additional costs as the public is their only source of revenue.

Brazil Ive seen the bills, they were under half for the most part and one was real close to a third. You in the insurance scam or something. The insurance companies are amongst the lowest in the country. The only business in the world that does not have to be financally solvent. They just keep writing policies hoping the world does not end,but wait they do not have to pay if that happens. When their are disasters they go bankrupt and do not have to pay.Scam ,and the govt keeps making it mandatory .This country is not even a shell of what it could be.

Actually you are very wrong Ms Ibbs. The Y provides free memberships as well as deeply discounted memberships to many families and individuals in Warren. They will not turn a child or person down because of their inability to pay. There have been and continue to be, many, many kids who have been given free memberships and don't have to pay classes offered there as well because they are from low income families. Please do your research before providing false statements.

Every adult in the USA should read Time magazine (Special Report Bitter Pill...Why Medical Bills Are Killing Us by Steven Brill...March 4, 2013 edition). Amazing read!

If doctors offices are waiting six months they have a poor billing/busines process which isn't surprising. People with cash can legally get a percentage discount for quick payment but not 1/3 of the amount. That being said, private payer insurances are notoriously cost ineffective and they are near the top of the list for health care costs increasing at the rates they are but hey most people in rural Warren wanted this system so they should be happy.

I think the problem with sky rocketing doctors and hospital fees are due to insurance companies not paying in a timely manner.you can talk to any doctor and they will tell, they have to wait up too 6 months for payment.there are people without insurance that can pay 1/3 of the price because they pay cash. The insuance companies are controlling every aspect of your lifes. Not only controlling but state and federal govt are making the insurance mandatory. They have given the companies more power than politicians. If something is not done the affects colud be devestating.

WGH is not a non-profit organization. They should pay taxes. I think that all Private John Q. Citizens should also pay taxes. Those who have no vested interest in the gov't don't care about costs, fraud, waste and abuse of programs. If they ALL had "skin in the game", they might change their attitudes.
