Head start; funded by the county, Carear Links; funded by the state, firefighters; funded by the city. Another person falling for the doom and gloom talk of Obama. But when you break it down the things he says it will affect have nothing to do with federal funds. Obama uses scare tactics in order to fool people in supporting his hard line agenda.

The sky is falling, Even Obama has backed off his doom and gloom rhetotic. Plain to see who's drinking the Kool Aid. Its less than a 3% cut, Im sure every household would be happy if they only had to cut 3% of their spending since Obama became president.

The government currently spends 4 Billion more dollars than it takes in each day.

In order to just balance the budget we would have to reduce spending by 10 times what Sequestration will do.

I say let it happen and then figure how to get some real savings to pull us out of this mess.

Obama won reelection because too many people enjoy the free ride off the backs of others and he promised them an even better ride.

I heard that VP Biden is doing his duty and cutting back. He said that he will be taking the train to Delaware instead of Air Force 2. That should save at least a couple of million a trip.

With this looming, why did we commit to $60 Million in aid to Syria? Shouldn't the very first cuts be to foreign aid? No let's ensure we don't cut foreign aid, lets cut domestic programs first.

Washington is so dysfunctional it's pathetic, all of them.

Federal spending is up 17% since BO took office. We're talking about a 3% cut here. Still spending 14% more than when BO took office.

"Congress made up this entire crisis, but too many lawmakers refuse to fix the problem they created."

No, in fact sequestration was put in place by the White House as a compromise to kick the debt ceiling and fiscal cliff down the road.

"Congress' failure to responsibly avoid the automatic cuts required by sequestration"

Wrong again. Congress tried to pass at least two budgets, which were rejected. The Senate and White House have a constitutional obligation to pass an annual budget. How many budgets have been passed in the past five years?

"We're talking about a 3% cut here."

I belive that it is only a 3% reduction in the rate of spending increase, not a 3% cut in actual spending....which makes it even worse.

"In the face of our workforce's struggle to recover from the recession, sequestration would reduce funding for key programs that help connect workers looking for local employment opportunities."

What "local employment opportunities"??????

You are right MTO, the white house put this in place and now they are trying to blame congress. When is this adminisration going to accept the blame for anything it's done. Blame Congress, blame Bush, blame the rich, blame war, and on and on. It's time people wake up and put the blame where it's deserved, right in the white houses lap! Lets do away with free cell phones as a good start!

Everyone realizes cuts have to be made, for years we were supporting two wars and are currently supporting one plus the military in other countries. The wars were the reason we started on this deep debt to start with. If we pulled out right now we could almost cover the cost of the cuts that are being made. Everyone realizes the cuts must happen but are saying DON'T LET IT AFFECT MY LIFE.

The letter writer is obviously a huge Obama supporter since she is using the same words - these cuts "could" cause this and "could" cause that. Just more BS from the White House over a situation they created. Let the cuts go thru but as lifelongresident said, start with cutting foreign aid. We need to keep the money here.

Foreign aid would be a start. Also any program that does not prove to be a benefit to any community. It is interesting all of the cuts mention are essential programs: health, safety, employment and education. Nothing was said regarding the freeloaders who only function in life is to be taken care of by the tax payer

So many cried out at the military cuts, even though the military said they could stand some cuts. Now they say "Oh we will not longer fly over at sporting events", originally the military went to these events as a recrutement tool, how many young people signed up because they saw the planes fly over these events? I am sure there are lots more ways to cut in ALL areas of government. I do not believe the doom and gloom. I also believe that boats and planes owned by people writing them off is a lot of crap too.

Most businesses I know when they have problems one of the first things they do is trim the fat not the meat. Most households will cut back on nonessential expenses and or go out and get another job to help defray costs. These are the people who are pay taxes.

Amazing the number of Fox fans setting their hair on fire over this brief, well-thought out, well written letter. This entire fiasco is yet another attempt to try and blame the President for what Congress didn't do.

I just checked the mileage between Dover DE and Washington DC, all of 94 miles. Biden really needed to take Air Force 2? What a waste of tax payer money.

Riggle, Bob Woodward doesn't work for FOX.

“The president is running around the country saying it’s going to bring a human toll, that all sorts of people are going to lose their jobs,” Woodward told Lauer. “He’s the one who started it. He’s the one he proposed it. People need to know that, and that’s what the White House is trying to avoid discussion about, quite frankly.”

"People need to know that, and that’s what the White House is trying to avoid discussion about"

That's not what I'm hearing. I hear the White House blaming his opposition on a daily basis, not avoiding discussion, just not telling the truth when they do discuss it.

Exactly, "He's the one that started it". Now that it's here, it's all Congress's fault. he went around the country telling everyone it's gloom and doom for all instead of doing his job. Take airforce one to play golf with Tiger Woods, wonder how much that cost us! A government study that was released showed that Children in Head Start had zero advantage over those that did not go to that program. Up to you to draw your own conclusions.

Writer 10 - HeadStart is budgeted for 8 billion dollars from the Federal Government in the most recent budget and there are some state monies as well. It is managed locally it isn't funded locally. Wow you couldn't get past your first 6 words without stating a total and complete factual inaccuracy.

The big thing I do not like about Obama is his wait to the last minute and shove it down every bodies throat attitude. The doom and gloom until he gets his way.
