"If a fire is hot enough to burn wood, it's more than hot enough to burn the plastic of a driver's license."
Maybe he had one of those SHARKK indestructible aluminum wallets that they advertise on the shopping network? Those things are awesome, and prevent identity theft too.

It was the guy on the grassy knoll that did it.

KB3UOE, he killed three innocent people and had a hit list for many more. That's really all that needs to be said. He needed stopped at all costs. I don't give a rat's behind about some wallet. All I care about is that he needed stopped.

@MTOMTO While he may have been smart enough to do this, I think that LAPD could have seen that he was doing this and wouldn't have told the public that they'd found his wallet three times, as it would put them in a bad light. And it doesn't explain how his wallet supposedly survived a fire that destroyed the rest of the cabin. If a fire is hot enough to burn wood, it's more than hot enough to burn the plastic of a driver's license.

I wonder if they ever pay out reward money. Locally "Buckey Phillips" reward money was never paid to the 2 folks that [1] called with his sighting at top of Hammond St. and [2} saw his car being stolen that led to police chase.I dont know how much more information leading to the capture of Buckey could have been given.Although the $ was coming from New York state and as I recall they made a mess of the case.

He was a law enforcement officer and from what I have read, pretty intelligent (although probably at least a little insane). Considering his training and obvoius desire to divert persuit, do you think that he may have had three wallets and planted them to throw up a smoke screen of sorts?

I'm the one that wrote this article. I'm well aware of the people he killed, but I'm more trying to draw attention the fact that LAPD more or less pulled almost a bait-and-switch on citizens. They offered a huge amount of money to generate interest to get people to call in tips, so they could find Dorner and kill him. The way I see it, this would be logical for them to do, although highly unethical.

I believe the stakes were raised when his manifesto stated that he was targeting high ranking officials and their families. That seems to get additional attention.

Dorner murdered 3 innocent people. Let's not forget that fact.
