"or they could hire a teen with a wheelbarrow!"
Now, that would look good on your resumé.

Simple solution,, have gardeners claim certain streets to collect manure from, for free fertalizer, or they could hire a teen with a wheelbarrow! Everyone's happpy!

Mission accomplished. The Amish will stop coming to town which is exactly what Sugar Grove wants.

I have spoken to several members of the board. What is not being said here is that the local Amish community (s) have been approached...their elders and deacons. Their response has been that they will not comply with the ordinance if passed and will simply stop coming to town. They have also been approached about putting "bibs" on their buggies. The claim is that their forefathers didn't so why should they?

"move to the outskirts, don some blue and gray clothing, buy a horse and buggy, and grow a beard"
The total sum of Heydrich's knowledge of the Amish way of life.
Underwhelming.

I wish they would enforce this in Warren also. I have to clean up after my dogs droppings or I get fined. Animal droppings is animal droppings. Road or not.

reader, (a). Skateboards and scooters are not legal on public roads and streets. (b). In Warren, even bicycles are required to be licensed. (c). If you don't like the level of emissions your vehicle puts out, choose a different option. You have the freedom to do so, for now, anyway. (d). If you don't like the level of emissions of everyone else's vehicles in the town or city, may I suggest you move to the outskirts, don some blue and gray clothing, buy a horse and buggy, and grow a beard. And DON'T FORGET THE DIAPER! (e). Our fees help to pay for the road system we use. The Amish deserve no special exemption. They use the roads just like we do.

heydrich, amish have nonmotorized vehicles like a bike, scooter, skateboard and need no license. and they inspect their own buggies. and the manure is just the exhaust of a one or two horsepower vehicle. after we solve the manure problem, let's find a solution to the carbon monoxide exhaust of a 200 horsepower vehicle that i am forced to breathe.

I agree MOTO. The Amish folks could make 'em themselves AND take home the manure for a secondary use which fits perfectly with their way of life. Waste not, want not.

And, yet, some still agree with horse diapers?

I once read the words of an extremely intelligent man who penned the following: "horse diapers". End of story.

By the way, I find it staggering how much I have been agreeing with Jimmy1 lately! Jimmy likes guns. Jimmy likes freedom. Does Jimmy like Seinfeld?

MTOMTO, I'm still bummed out that I cannot capitalize MTOMTO further than it already is. How can I show pleasure or surprise? How about "HEY, IT'S MY BUDDY!!!"

And I'm sick and tired of hearing about how the Amish support their local communities. What, the rest of us don't??? Right, the Amish are special because no one but them spends money locally??? Give me a break. And then someone cited the Amish as being a tourist attraction? This is NOT Lancaster County. People are NOT flocking to Warren County to see these Amish. Area people do indeed go to the Amish to buy product, but at the same time they are taking business away from those who operate under a different set of tax rules and who are subject to the reasoning I stated in my previous post.

garypayton, just so you know, many of us are tired of the fact that cars and trucks of all shapes and sizes must license, register, and inspect their vehicles annually in order to use the public highway system while Amish do not. We also don't like that we face fines if our pet's "manure" is not picked up while the Amish do not. But the BIGGEST peeve of all is how they are determined to remove ALL FISH from the river fishing sunup to sundown much of the year while Warren County has no Fish Commissioner to enforce the laws. Don't believe me? Watch the river at the bottom of Mohawk this spring and summer. I'm surprised there are any fish left at all. So WHO can't be trusted? Who's freeloading? Open your eyes.

The "pampered" Amish pay taxes and contribute to the local community and economy. That they are "freeloaders" is an old, tired LIE.

Flight delayed, worst player (being the best is incredibly frustrating), flying. Invisibility would be cool and really useful, but you would have to be naked for it to work.

What if your hauling horses, cows or pigs in a trailer and some poo falls out going through town? Will you have to park and go back and scoop?
Comparing horses in the road to dogs in your yard is like comparing road apples to oranges.

"If I pick up my dogs business and throw it in the street is that Ok? Must be if its in the street it's ok, right?"
You must have a really, really big dog.

Would you rather be able to fly or make yourself invisible?
