The state should re-staff the hospital to allow 500 patients, and change the 401-402 involuntary commitment law from 72 hours in a general hospital psych ward to 30 days inpatient in a mental hospital for anyone with mental health issues involving physical violence toward others or brandishing or use of a weapon. It should be 1900 at least. The kenneling of these individuals in these group homes is ridiculous. But look at all the minimum wage jobs it creates. The care is non-existent in group homes. Would you call a plumber if you had a heart attack? that's about what is the level of therapy and care given at a group home.
