How Many Is Enough?

For any parent who has ever helped their high schooler schedule, they do have many choices to make for the classes and path they take. This change was NOT something the board asked for. If administration opens up all options, even the largest school (wahs) will have many classes with fewer than 12 in them. it spreads the kids even more thin. The classes get cancelled, kids are in study hall, less teachers needed, the district doesn't have to hire any to account for those who are retiring, and they win to help their budget woes. It was said that classes under 12 get approved. If you have ever looked at the list, only course for special ed, requirements, or iep requirements get approved.

The kids don't get to pick all of their classes. There are standards set by the state and a credit requirement by the district. This applies mostly to their electives. Why shouldn't the students choose their electives?

Let the kids dictate? Let the inmates run the asylum! Kids don't know the whole wide world. They only know their narrow spectrum of interest. Education is introducing NEW things. Allowing the kids to choose merely gives us undereducated adults who will*****at the public teat.
