Gun rights

You have to be a registered manufacturer of class III weapons(machine guns, sawed off shotguns and other) to legally make one. As PA has no laws against said items you must follow Federal Law by getting finger printed(for FBI background check), law enforcement sign off, and pay for a tax stamp. In PA you can own, as a private citizen machine guns, sawed-off shotguns, and silencers if, and ONLY if, you follow the procedure set out by the ATF. The price of the tax stamp varied with the type of weapon. It's been a while but I seem to remember the automatic weapon's stamp was around $400 but the one for the shotgun was only $20 or so. All class III weapons have a title like a car. If there is no title it is illegal. Oh and there are three different types of titles too. Each one has different regulations and such. I worked in the industry for a few years, and it's been bugging me that they say all machine guns are illegal. They are not necessarily all illegal.

24 1943,This is a real question though some on this bd. I think just hit agree or disagree because they can. How does one register a sawed off shotgun? I didnt know they could be legal?Is it done thru the sherriff like our pistol permit?Not looking to chop off one of my shot guns but just curious.

One thing I do agree with some of you on is Diane Feinstein is an extreemist. She has gone to far but because she is so extreem it will be detramental to her cause. If you ask for alot you might get a little Thats how most negotiations work.To ask her for an opinion is almost like thinking Sarah Palin has credability.ALMOST!

Addressing the issue of God the writer mentioned. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." These Natural Rights were derived and put into words by Enlightenment thinkers who believed they have always existed, that we are born with them by the mere fact that we are humans. It is the right to defend these Natural Rights (thus making it a Natural Right itself) that gave motivation to the Founding Fathers to add the 2nd Amendment to the list of 12 proposed amendments to the Constitution, of which 10 were ratified (the 11th one was ratified almost 200 years later but that is another discussion).

We are one vote on the Supreme Court or a handful of votes in Congress from having a gun ban happen. It happened in Australia, it happened in Great Britain and many other countries. If not for the 4 Million NRA members along with a couple other gun rights groups who have been able to muster enough votes to defeat some congressmen in the past we would already have it here. This will be the toughest test yet. Nice try but you and Obama are not fooling anyone. We know who the enemies of the second amendment are.

I remember a friend's Dad telling me when I was a kid that Jimmy Carter was going to take away all our guns. That was more than 30 years ago Didn't pass the smell test then, doesn't now. The scare tactics aren't working.

OK. My mistake. Poor choice of words. Heck, I can be radical too. Free speech promotes it. During the assault weapons ban. No handguns were banned. Shouldn't the logical progression have taken place sometime within 10 years?

Talk is cheap. There are radical statements made on both sides of the issue. Radical statements hardly ever translate into law. That's why there are 438 Members of the House and 100 members of the Senate.

25or624--- rather than quoting Joe Biden you might want to try your shotgun at close range before making those statements. The typical room is 15' or less and at that range you have to be just as accurate in your aim as you do with your semi-auto or your going to be standing there with an empty gun while jimmy1 is still shooting. Past that distance for awhile you may be better off but I doubt the rooms in your house are 30-40' long.

Besides, why would you ban a whole class of firearms in the name of gun safety when of approx. 13,000 homicides each year less than 45 are committed with semi-auto rifles. That number is straight from the mouth of the Senator who introduced the weapons ban. Who is kidding who?
