Right on. When you go to these places you see the effects of what these types of policies did. A Communist belief was that men would work hard to the benefit of all, a belief that caused the Soviet Union to fail. Just like today, Obama believes he can tax the rich and all will be fine. What he hasn't factored in is the fact that the wealthy control the products and the market. As the new taxes cut into their profits the cost of everything the middle class buys increases.

aka, Again with the personal attacks. And you were doing so good at being civil. Just because someone has a different point of view, does not make them any less intelligent. If that was the case, just look at all the disagrees you get.

100% correct Mr Peterson. Accurate in every observation. I, too, have witnessed the gray, bleakness of Fulda, (East) Germany. Socialism and Marxism do not work. They are cancerous and destroy prosperity, well-being and human dignity. For some unknown reason, this is Mr O's ultimate goal. And America has chosen this form of suicide. Some will disagree with your observations, John. Proof that, as has been so eloquently written, "You just can't fix stupid!"

Well said Mr. Peterson. With all of the examples of failure of socialism and communism, it is amazing that mankind keeps pushing for it. It has never worked and never will. The one governmental system that has proven to be extremely successful is the American capitalism system. Sadly, it is now under serious attack and fading.

Seeking your god's wisdom? Are you kidding me. Look to yourself 1st, you will be better off than counting on the wisdom of something that does not exist. WE THE PEOPLE are responsible for all or government woes. Get real, 35 million citizens do not pay taxes, churches get free ride on property taxes, while you and i pay our fare share, get real. You write a long letter telling us things we have known for years. Write down a solution, your god is not the solution.

Beg to differ with you RR but the “God of Abraham” is the difference, either “Restoration or Ruin.” If we as a nation will repent we will experience his grace and if we don’t----well them it’s not going to be so good. Either way it goes RR you’re going to get to see it!! I personally hope you make the right choice before its to late.

I though salvation was personal, not collective. Is the God of Abraham a communist? I don't think so. I also don't think God persecutes entire nations.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14. This mentions a "land" (country), not individuals.

Stonewall and backwoods, story book imaginary characters won't solve our problems. We humans are the solution, because we are able to think, reason, and make choices. Teaching our children to be responsible and caring goes much further than teaching them obedience to some illogical, poor excuse for a role model fantasy.

Not trying to be critical but in a country with some 300+ religeons just how does a nation repent. The bible uses many metafors, some thousands of years old all are subject to different meanings.None of which may be right or wrong. religeon and politics, great subjects to disagree on. We all are so passionate on what we believe. But neither should have bearing on the other. The mixing of the two can be counter productive. Kinda like oil and water. We are all given free will,so if one believes one way and someone else another I believe neither is wrong. What is wrong on the religeous side of things is to believe your right and anothers are wrong.

Your translation of the English translation of 2 Chronicles, originally brought to us in Greek, makes you more of Bible scholar than me. By granting us the freedom of religion in this country, it looks like the Sacred Founders set us up for failure according to your literal interpretation of the Bible. Why would they do that, I wonder.

Please opine,Example:You are about to have surgery {lets say to remove a brain tumor...Made.. ya go out and shoot some kids at a local park with your new Assult rifle}.Prior to the procedure you are made aware of all the potential problems that could arise. In walks your Anesthesiologist,a tea colored man with dark hair.Appears he could be Hindu or other. You get nervous, theres sweat on your brow.. then..Your out! The next day all is well things went fine. The man has been schooled here and has been doing his work for 25 years, been involved in over 2500 successful operations.God may have watched over you But who watched over him? #1 Your god for your benefit?Although he doest believe thou #2 His God,he pra #3 he will be going to*****if he keeps his faith? Now, there is no agree/disagree, this is a multiple choice question. This is a simple question. What say you? Kinda like Carol Merrill on the "Price is Right".Door 1, 2 or 3. Also 1 last note; Your god for each of you is

Maybe there's a God that rules over all the different religion's Gods?

Believe or don't believe it's everyone's choice.

I tend not to believe, however I think religion is important in helping people get through tough times and providing some morals.

The problem in today's society is even some leaders of these religions don't display good morals. Many people who claim to be religious only follow the parts of their religions that are convenient for them.

i.e. two married people end up in choir together, not their spouses, they end up having an affair get divorced and marry each other. Right under the "eyes of God" how hypocritical is that? This sort of thing plays out everyday.

Gary…I would like to point out several things to you. Fist you said in your 12:03 pm comment, “I though salvation was personal, not collective. Is the God of Abraham a communist? I don't think so. I also don't think God persecutes entire nations.”

If you read your bible you will see when El Shadday (God Almighty) was continually dealing with the Nation of Israel. Myself I would call being sent into captivity “percussion.”

What about the God of Abraham judging cities? The five cities of the plains, Sodom, Gomorrah and the other three cities that were destroyed along with all its residents except Lot and his daughters? They know where the ruins are, would you call that percussion?

Secondly, 2 Chronicles 7:14 is out of the Old Testament that was written in “Hebrew “ not Greek as you state in your 2:10 pm comment.

Thirdly in Romans 11 Paul call all gentile believers the wild olive branch that has been grafted in. thus we are his people.

Gary, I’d love to get together with you and do some bible study some time.

Brook,We are all entitled to our own beliefs and opinions. My satiracle questions Had more to do with peoples open mindedness and acceptance of others as they are, not as they think people should be. In my opinion there seem to be a lot extreem rightwing evangelical zealots who post on this bd.Who also believe they hold the key more than others .Next time it might be interesting to ask how they feel about homosexuality or people who may be of a different ethnicity than they are. For Me and this is my belief that as long as a person believes in something outside of self thats a good thing, its given strength to billions of people for thousnads of years.I know this... I didnt make this world, these peole or any of the beauty in it{with the exception of my children,I did have a hand..well.ah something to do with that. To All..May the God of your understanding bless you. enjoy..

Right. Old Testament is Hebrew and New Testament is Greek. Still, you provided the jump from "land" to (country.) What makes you so sure your interpretation is correct? I have a problem with blind, literal adherence to every single word in the Bible. The Word of God, yes, but written and translated by mere men. I also believe that the earth is older than 6,000 years and man and dinosaurs did NOT walk the planet at the same time.

archaeo1, I agree, we are all entitled to believe what we want. I guess when some who are so opposite from go all fire and brimstone, I tend to push back a little. I should probably phrase things better. Humans have been making up gods for a couple hundred thousand years to explain things they can't. I find it an unneeded crutch. I have faith in humans, to meet challenges and improve the lot over time. The universe is an amazing thing, but NO ONE knows our origins. That knowledge is probably hundreds of years away. It's ok not to know. I guess I have a problem with making things up until we do know.

Good points, Gary. I find the bible a terribly unreliable collection of stories. It's been translated many, many times and the Catholic Church had control over it for 300 years or so. King James had it rewritten because he felt it didn't include enough obedience. I personally find it equal to a Harry Potter book, but Harry is better written. lol
