Portions of Foote Avenue and Hazzard Street in Jamestown were closed off late Sunday and early Monday as city firefighters battled a blaze in a vacant building between the two streets. According to Jamestown Fire Department Deputy Chief Lance Hedlund, the fire was called in around 10:30 p.m. by a Jamestown Police officer on his way to work. Firefighters used a two-pronged attack to protect nearby homes from the blaze and for better access to the site. Hedlund said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
