CVCS Consolidates Classes
SINCLAIRVILLE — More than 100 children will move from Cassadaga Elementary School to Sinclairville Elementary School in the 2010-11 school year as part of a cost-saving measure. The Cassadaga Valley School Board expects a big turnout of district residents at its March 29 meeting when consideration of the proposed 2010-11 budget will continue. At Monday’s meeting, John Brown, district superintendent, presented recommendations that call for 12 staff reductions and transferring an estimated 107 to 110 third-, fourth- and fifth-grade Cassadaga Elementary students to Sinclairville Elementary School. The total staff reduction involves one special education teacher, four classroom teachers, one foreign language teacher, an administrator, four non-instructional positions and the school resource officer. Regarding the realignment of students, Brown said the pre-kindergarten through second-grade students will remain in their “home” schools at Cassadaga and Sinclairville Elementary.
