Seybert Says: Don’t call it a comeback
By ALLEN SEYBERT aseybert@timesobserver.com Guess who’s back. Don’t you wish that the Yankees played at PNC Park every night. I mean, how great was it to see the ballpark packed full of fans to watch the Bucs play during the Thursday make-up game with New York. It’s a shame that the Pirates can’t draw that kind of crowd every night. They seem to play a little more inspired when the stadium is jam packed to the rafters. I didn’t check the numbers on Friday, but I’m sure a make or break (at least as far as a .500 season is concerned) series opener with the Cardinals only drew in the 10-20,000 range — roughly half of Thursday night’s game. Oh well, it could be worse. We could be in Tampa Bay where they only draw 8,000 fans a game. Then again, maybe that wouldn’t be so bad. 1. Don’t call it a comeback. No seriously — don’t.
