Prepare your lawn for summer
Tony Tomassoni, of family owned Tomassoni Landscaping of Warren, has been been in the green industry for more than 62 years. He is preparing lawns in the county for the spring and summer months and has some suggestions for those looking for helpful tips to keep their lawn green.
“You have to remember that every environment is different and that you cannot simply plant what your neighbor has,” said Tomassoni. “ You have to buy plant and shrubbery that fits the needs of your home.”
“To get your lawn ready after the winter you have to repair where there was damage done to your lawn with new topsoil and mulch,” said Tomassoni. “After you put this base down you can either apply oat wheat straw or ‘patch master’ which is a combination of seed fertilizer and mulch in one.”
In the beginning of May, Tomassoni said it is important to cover bare spots in the yard with fertilizer and lime.
