The Trickle - fall events

November 4, 2010 - Brian Ferry
Fall cleaning? Fall back?

I was cleaning an area of my desk that hadn't seen the light of fluorescent bulbs in some time, when I came across a great treasure. There was a slim, fairly hardcover scheduler calendar thing just waiting to be used. Unfortunately, it seems I didn't put a note in my 2008 scheduler calendar book to start using the nice 2009 one. So, how long will it be before all the dates line up again?

Daylight Wasting Time I like Daylight Savings Time. Even since I've discovered that Benjamin Franklin did not invent the idea, I still like it. Thanks to DST, there was daylight at about 9 p.m. through much of the summer. On Sunday, we revert back to Standard Time. I don't like Standard Time. As our Earth tilts us farther from the sun, our days grow shorter, such that it's plenty dark by 6 p.m. With the clock change, there will be a sudden shift to darkness one hour earlier than I'm used to. This is a raw deal. I don't know all the arguments in favor of Standard Time. I only know my argument against it - darker earlier.
