The Trickle - Familiar scenes

July 6, 2010 - Brian Ferry

I've "seen" that before...

So, there I was, reading a Dean Wells story on the Rainbow Gathering. I was getting some good visuals out of the words (some too good). Then he came to the part about "the Wizard." Dean described a man, standing on a stump, wearing a wizard's hat, stark naked. Fortunately, my mind jumped away from the visual and to a memory of something very similar I'd read before. In Terry Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule, First Wizard Zeddicus Zul Zorander is introduced doing almost that exact thing. I can't find the passage online, so I'll have to try to dig up the book. Maybe in six to eight weeks I'll have done that. Hopefully, within another year I'll have remembered why I was digging books out and I'll actually check to compare the two scenes, both of which, by the way, I consider myself lucky not to have visually witnessed.
