The Trickle - March Madness

March 29, 2010 - Brian Ferry

NCAA pool

I've entered a number of NCAA men's basketball tournament pools in the past. Sometimes I've done fairly well, sometimes I've done just Ok. I don't seem to do exceedingly well or exceedingly poorly. This year, I picked Georgetown to win it all. I don't like picking a number 1 seed to win - too likely to run into lots of other people with the same victor. This might explain why I don't finish really well. Still, I felt good about Gtown until they lost in the first round. So, I gave up on this year's bracket. After round two, I was told I was in first place. I couldn't believe it. Then I heard there were only five people in the very limited, local pool and decided I might have a chance. I did very well in the West region, missing only three games out of 15. I think I only missed five in the South region. In both of those, I have the right team in the Final Four. However, I picked the other two regions to get to the final game. Kentucky and Georgetown aren't going to make it. Two of my opponents have Duke in the finals. They can gain ground on me. However, I'm far enough ahead already that they can't catch me. I WIN. I'm thinking of adding a humble note to my email signature line, just for today. Something like Champion of Bracketology... or Master of All Things College Basketball.
