The Trickle - Volley

October 22, 2009 - Brian Ferry

What do you mean it's not all about me?

My volleyball season will begin in a few months. Right now, high school girls volleyball is winding down. For those of you who haven't noticed, two Warren County teams are doing quite well this year. Warren, under the leadership of Mike Dolan, and Youngsville, with coach Terry Schrader, duke it out tonight (Thursday, Oct. 22) at YHS for the region championship. Both teams have played and defeated traditional powerhouse programs this year. I wonder if they'll both make the playoffs. I have this sneaking suspicion they won't. It would be a shame if they don't, but, under the existing rules, not too surprising. With Maplewood, Cochranton, the Conneauts, and all those other teams that fight over the D-10 championship and the right to represent the northwest in the state tournament packed into the same league, there are plenty of feathers that would be ruffled by an at-large interloper from Warren County. Here's to ruffling feathers.

JV starts at 6 p.m. with varsity to follow.
